Hello,
I received this email below from the Institute of Ideas in London. I’m fascinated by its activities, and indeed by the very fact of its existence.

Hello,
There is a story regarding the residence of JMI that needs to be pieced together. ‘Edenvale’, a house on the seafront in Bray, Co. Wicklow, built in the mid-nineteenth century, is where JMI (more…)
Hello,
Sad news today that one of Ireland’s most important and respected song collectors, Tom Munnelly, has died. Munnelly made the largest field-collection of Irish traditional song ever compiled by any individual, recording, (more…)
Hello,
The Pavilion Theatre are putting on TRADITION:DL, the very first Dún Laoghaire Festival of Traditional Music for the August bank holiday weekend next week. Hello,
The JMI archive of all 39 issues since November 2000 has been online and free to view since 8th May. It may interest visitors to know which are the three most-read articles from the archive so far (excluding articles from 2007).
Placing the entire seven years of JMI on the world wide web – and free to view – has been fascinating for myself as editor. There are many articles worth revisiting and I hope readers will take the time to wander through the over 500 articles so far.
Recently, I sent a version of my editorial from the May-June 07 JMI into the Irish Times as a letter. It was published on April 24th (below), and a response came from Deirdre McCrea of Music Network on April 27th (also below).
